How Do I Book A Show?
We book everything that fits on our 12'x19' stage. Indie rock, power pop, americana, hard rock, experimental, jazz, triphop, metal, burlesque, stand-up comedy, drag, tribute bands, rock operas, bellydance, game shows, etc.
SOUND SYSTEM & RECORDING OPTIONS
16 channels of whatever you want. Yes, we have direct boxes. Yes, we can provide a backline.
Multi-track recordings: We offer digital recordings of every set. At the end of the night, you give us an even $20 (we pay the sales tax) and take home a high-quality recording of your show to remix and tweak to your heart’s content using whatever software you want (ProTools, GarageBand, etc.). You can also give the files to your favorite engineer for mixing.
Cover charge: Your choice. The default is $6 on Thursdays, $7 on Fridays/Saturdays, and $5 for all ages matinees. We can do advance ticketing through Brown Paper Tickets upon request.
ALL AGES OR 21+
If you have underage fans or underage band members, an all ages weekend matinee is probably the best choice. Please let us know in advance if any band members are underage. Note: Do NOT try to slyly hook minors up with drinks or let them attempt to order drinks. Our bartenders are sharp, and you will ALL be banned from Skylark forever faster than you can say “I’m an idiot!” We are fond of our liquor license and would like to keep it.
What Are The Show Details?
SET TIMES AND LOADING IN
Plan on each set being about 40-45 minutes with 15 minutes in between for set-up and break-down. Headlining sets can plan on an hour or more depending on crowd size/enthusiasm, since there is no noise curfew.
Load-in: 7:30pm for 8:00pm doors (3:00pm weekend matinees). Please check in with the sound person before loading in any gear.
Sound check: First band only, 8:30pm (3:30pm weekend matinees). Line checks for other acts.
BAND PAY AND HOUSE FEES
Split: After taxes/fees (5%) and sound ($75), the rest of the door goes to the bands. Splits are negotiable, though the default is now 40/30/30. The door is settled in cash at the end of the night, so someone must stay to collect or it will be forfeited to the other performers.

SOME FRIENDLY SUGGESTIONS FOR A SUCCESSFUL NIGHT
Be considerate of your fellow bands. Set up and break down efficiently, stay for their sets and support them. If they're from out of town, consider donating your portion of the split to them. It's good etiquette and good karma for when you hit the road.
Be considerate of your audience. The room is only 1,874 square feet, leave the arena gear at home. We're already all deaf, but some of the customers aren't yet. Turn everything down and let the sound engineer have something to work with.
Be considerate of your bartenders. Follow all the House Rules posted in the basement, especially the ones having to do with breaking the law.
Thanks for playing Skylark!
